Have A Personal Positive Impact on the American Economy

by American Artist Barbara Kruger

Barbara Kruger is a favorite American artist.  Her work questions our sense of autonomy against the massive messaging of commercialism and social ideals coming out of Madison Avenue. This holiday season american made magazine will be challenging the notion of “I shop therefore I am” as well.

Our new american made magazine 2011 Toy Book cover, featuring an all time classic American toy – the Slinky, is getting the conversation started. Send us your ideas now! We will be posting throughout the holiday season on where to get your American Made gifts and services for the 2011 holiday season.

Impact the American Economy With Every Purchase You Make

Just after Halloween the onslaught of holiday shopping prompts will be upon us. american made magazine is encouraging you to buy American Made. Oh, and what if this year you made your own Halloween costume. I have the fondest childhood memories of my mother dressing us up in her clothes, or smearing some type of red goop across our faces with a torn sheet draped over us. I am not sure what we were suppose to be, but it saved our family money and the planet – we were recycling even way back then. Halloween in New York City is extraordinary. Magnificent costumes, made by ordinary folks, provoke commentary on our society and our perceptions of one another. So get out there this year and participate by gathering the mundane items from the back of your closets, and in your basements, and be inspired by creating something with your own hands.
